This month, we release Burnaby, the city immediately adjacent to Vancouver City, and New Westminster, which is adjacent to Burnaby. Both are colourful historic entities, particularly New West, which was the original capital of the Colony of British Columbia prior to 1850. A large portion of a more-outlying city, Coquitlam is also on this map, including the terminus of the first and only transcontinental railway line in North America. Burnaby hosts Simon Fraser University, the only such institution that I know of to be located on top of a mountain. The second side of the sheet repeats our famous map of the City of Vancouver, joining it to its closest neighbours on the north shore of the massive Fraser River.
