This initial phase of your city centre tour ends at the Dominican Church. The second stage
commences just a few minutes’ walk away at the Urania Observatory and focuses on the
Vienna Ring, where mansion houses began to be erected from 1860 onwards, replacing

Schönbrunn Palace

three to six kilometres from St. Stephen’s Cathedral. This chapter summarises the sights
